Zonal Activities
It also processes promotions, verifies qualifications, and deals with leave and other service-related matters. In addition, the section works closely with school principals to meet staffing requirements, implements policies issued by the Ministry of Education Sri Lanka, and prepares reports on teacher distribution and vacancies. Overall, it ensures the smooth and efficient management of teachers within the education system.

Our Services
- Formulation of the region's overall annual, medium-term, five-year plan, progress review and monitoring in relation to the education sector development approach framework and programs.
- Preparing, implementing, controlling and reviewing the progress of annual, medium-term and five-year plans of all educational institutions in the region.
- Approval of annual estimates of schools.
- Submitting proposals and recommendations regarding regional structural affairs.
- Identifying, quantifying and taking action to meet the physical and human resource needs of all educational institutions in the region..
- Collect, update, organize, analyze and disseminate data and information related to the Education Management Information System (EMIS).
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Zonal Education Director as required.
- Monitoring and reporting progress regarding the coordination of the annual school census.
- Coordinating activities related to the school improvement program.
- Fulfilling the physical needs of schools, including water, electricity, and sanitation.
- Obtaining the contribution of government and non-government organizations for the educational development process, planning foreign aid projects, coordinating, regulating, reviewing progress and following up.
- Preparing and providing necessary reports for District and Regional Development Committees.
- Coordination with relevant parties related to construction and renovation
- Directing and monitoring relevant foreign aid programs.
- Working towards principal capacity development.
- Internal evaluation of activities related to the planning department.
